Hideous Talks

They happen,

Tentative in so much as they’re heralded

By pockets of cautious silence

Not the same as confessions to lovers,

More a sense of testing the brotherhood

You’ve grown to appreciate

There are things us men,

Won’t tell you,

No matter how often you ask,

Because you cannot know

Nor take the Burden from us,

And we are, for the most part,

Adapted to it,

But I’m open to sharing

The idea of how we all sit with

Monsters in the dungeons of

Ourselves and they weren’t always

So

Beasts

If anything

But now, some women are openly sexual but take umbrage when sexualized

And sometimes taunting that hunger

Sours the blood

Without a way towards letting

So here we are

Having these hideous talks

About how to breathe with the desire

Without being destroyed by it

Because we talk about how you can do that now,

And you’ll never actually hurt the one who made you feel that way,

But someone else will do, for some of you,

And some of us, too.

We have these hideous talks

About love But not la la di da

More like avalanches

Animal attack videos online

Kind of love.

And how the fuck we survive it all
