poetry

i see you

i see you

as you are

and how your battles

have been won and lost

and that still you

climb

rise

with a smile on your face

your fingers ache

but the effort

makes you strong

and what no one sees

is you wrestling with your

capacity for greatness

the disintegration

reintegration

reformed and made anew

but no one asks

because no one sees

unless they look for signs

and so you continue

the real treasure of you

lies in the dark

and you bring it to the surface

coins spilling from fingers

spend them on your smile

and the soft purr of a woman’s desire
