home is not a place

It is difficult,

But never impossible

To restrain the enthusiasm

Coached in task then results

My actions represent an eloquence

Even my vocabulary struggles to contain

Drawn and held in place

Outside your soul’s window

Sometimes too much

And I am sent to my cave

With the warm press of your kiss

On my furred cheek

But in time,

Shadows lengthen

And I am called again,

Answering with a smile,

Secure in my utility,

I return to drink from the waters

Feel the sticky blessing of your honey

Against my lips

Expressing my want with a force

To rattle the panes in their frames

To come home

Not as a place

But

A

Person
