Watching the dawn

Watching the dawn

The civil bite

As summer packs its bags

Soft refrain from trees

Birds in branches

About my day

An hour

A minute

Stepping from the shore

Into the deep end

Your hand still in mine

Warm fingers intertwined

And sometimes my

Enthusiasm for you

Is a clumsy ninja

Aspiring to a skill

I can’t quite figure

So it sits

Fused into a diamond

Catching the dawn

As I watch it
