chi sau

This quiet

Chi sau, we play

Listening with our skin

To the things we’re not

Saying aloud

And the force in my hands

Overpowers yours

With a smile

Give me your breath

I yearn to sing

In a brutal, gentle key

With you

My fingers between your lips

This robust dance

Like stars colliding

Lighting the sky

With each blow

As loud as church bells

As quiet as a

Temple garden

Say my name,

It sounds like victory

To my ears
