beauty, love, poetry, women

As The Lights Went Out

What if it all

Ended right here?

One bite

Thinking flu

Was the worst of it

A moment

Clumsy and

It goes down

But doesn’t

And the black door

Closes

If I said

I thought of you

As someone tried

To help

And the shadow flowers

Bloom before me

Packed with seething

Blankness

I see you,

Baby girl

And if it

Were my time

It might not have

Been long

But it was good

(I said your name

As the lights

Went

Out)
