Summon me

Summon me from

Memory

The rich timbre

Of my voice.

Hands

Hurting and healing.

Press my weight

Against you

Barely able to breathe

But my force

Opens a cage door

And some part of you

Takes flight

One reply on “Summon me”

I love the way the “But” introduces alternate interpretations from that point: She could be taking flight with or from. It reads so unequivocal up until that point, but then becomes wonderfully enigmatic. Brilliant.
