Treasure

These are not

Dark,lonely waters

I swim within

All you need do

Is step from shore

To water

This is my kingdom

As you would the forest

Where ancient trees breathed

Out their wisdom

Let me soak you

In my love

My hands keep you afloat

I would breathe into you

If your air ran out

If I took it from you

I would return it

Tenfold

Let me kiss away

The loneliness

Here, you are safe

To feel

All that is within you

Without apology

Or explanation

I understand you

Beautiful in your complexities

Fierce in your need

So adept at hiding it

That you struggle to deal

When it roars up inside you

But I know what to soothe

And what to smack

So step into the water

I am there,

Glistening and precious

As treasure.
