My Dark Places

It sits

Deep in my belly

I know it

It knows me

I breathe through

So many things

Keep walking my path

Even when

All I want to do is lay

Down awhile

So it tests me

I pass

Affirm my worth in the quiet

I would speak of

My pain

But would you bear it?

Beautiful as you are

My dark places

Are not for the unwary.

I would not see you scarred

By the wild thing that

Lives

Is

There
