Painting A Picture

First you’re

Going to paint the side

Of the train

Then you come aboard

The rails lead

Us into the undiscovered

Parts of you

Let the world go on

Without us

The animals run alongside

Their hungry eyes recognise

Their own kind

I close the curtains

Let nothing

No one intrude

Drink you

Like wine

All the textures

Of your body

The colours of your

Soul on my canvass

Each touch a brush stroke

On the canvas

Painting a portrait of you

And I

As we see one another

What hot, hungry art

We make

Trading between

Muse and artist

Subject

Object

Doing what poetry does

To the heart

With our bodies
