A Compelling Argument

On the days

That have teeth

And you came to

My door showing where

You had been bitten

You could huddle

In your fort

I would strap on

Patchwork armour

Not because you can’t

But because I can

And I have made friends

With my demons

Baby girl and I would

See that you were held

Kissed into giggles

Stroked into breathy silences

I would read to you

Save your eyes

For me

I would look into them

A compelling argument

For kissing made there

In a look
