It was a mother and daughter scene, with a different dynamic than normal but then Cat’s mother isn’t normal. That wasn’t intentional but it just came out in the writing and it’s interesting to play with that. I wrote a page this morning before work and then finished it off this evening. I’m already thinking about wrapping up the subplots, which means that I will be spending a little longer with the book but that’s no bad thing. I love these characters enough to test them and hurt them to see what they’re made from.
Still, it’s another two pages taken care of. I don’t especially do creative exercises, the book is the exercise and the short stories and the book after that will be. Flash fiction and comment thread stories are cool, I have enjoyed them but right now I am pitching for the bleachers and I need my strength the swing the bat hard.
